What makes a battery compatible with an inverter?

Voltage is only one part of a reliable battery and inverter match.

Match the complete operating range

A nominal voltage label does not establish compatibility. Check the permitted battery voltage range, maximum charge and discharge currents, inverter battery input limits, and the intended series or parallel configuration.

Confirm BMS communication and firmware

Where closed-loop control is required, verify the communication protocol, connector pinout, firmware version and the specific battery model on the inverter compatibility list. Do not assume that every CAN or RS485 interface uses the same protocol.

Check backup behavior

Confirm black-start capability, backup output power, transfer behavior, phase requirements and any external switching equipment. A grid-connected solar inverter does not necessarily provide power during a grid outage.

Prepare the model information

Include the inverter make, exact model, firmware if known, desired battery capacity, number of modules and destination market when requesting a compatibility review.
